Michelle McGowan

Michelle McGowan, senior public relations consultant at M Squared PRMichelle McGowan is the Director of  Public  and Media Relations  and founding partner at M Squared PR & Marketing. Michelle’s 23-year background in communications includes work as a veteran television reporter, a media relations director, a crisis communications specialist and an intergovernmental public affairs officer.

At M Squared PR and Marketing, Michelle handles the public and media relations and social media side of the business. Her passion for writing and storytelling, as well as her in-depth knowledge of traditional and social media is what makes Michelle so successful at media relations.

Trained in crisis communications at the FEMA Institute of Emergency Management and the Office of Public Health and Emergency Preparedness, Michelle has helped lead crisis communications efforts for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at both the 2002 Winter Olympics, and in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. She is also a consultant for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. Her training and hands-on experience enables her to offer our clients special insight into emergency preparedness, crisis communications planning and education, as well as social media emergency management.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Alex Marcoux

denver seoAlex Marcoux is our Vice President of Sales & Marketing and co-founder of M Squared PR & Marketing. Her nearly 30 years’ professional experience includes: leading sales teams and marketing strategies, rebuilding troubled businesses and revitalizing corporate images.

Alex has worked for Fortune 100 companies, as well as small businesses. A food scientist by trade, Alex’s career started in product development, where she was instrumental in the creation of the well-known Crystal Light soft drink. After hanging-up her lab coat, Alex moved-on to technical sales, which eventually led to marketing, communications and general management. Having owned and operated small businesses, Alex has an in-depth understanding of what small start-up businesses need when it comes to marketing, public relations and social media and networking.

When it comes to search engine optimization (SEO), Alex is our go-to person. We figure it’s the scientist in her that fuels her curiosity and understanding of computers and SEO– Both of which are invaluable skills when it comes to helping our clients stay on the first few pages of popular search engines, such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Alex is also an awarding-winning novelist, screenwriter and the author of a nonfiction self-help book.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Food Science from the University of Massachusetts.

Helen Salazar Martin

Helen Salazar Martin, director of marketing, M Squared PR & MarketingHelen Salazar Martin is a senior marketing and sales consultant at M Squared Public Relations and Marketing. She brings 28-years of marketing, public relations and business development experience to the firm.

Helen’s career began in the banking industry where she served as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Golden Banks of Colorado (now Wells Fargo) and Senior Vice President at Compass Bank in the Business Banking area. She also worked for UMB Bank and United Banks of Colorado.

Before joining M Squared PR and Marketing, Helen was the Development Director for Arrupe Jesuit High School, an inner-city high school serving low-income youth. While at Arrupe she was responsible for all business development and marketing and successfully helped the school raise millions of dollars.

Helen’s knack for strategic planning and promotions is the cornerstone to her success at M Squared. She’s helped many of our entrepreneurs break into new markets and expand sales exponentially. Helen is also one of those people who knows no strangers. Her vast network of friends and former colleagues has allowed Helen to help our clients make invaluable connections.

Currently, Helen serves on the board of Parent Pathways of Denver. When she takes off her marketing and sales hat, she and her husband George enjoy travel, golf, and spending time at their vacation house in Tucson. Helen and George have two grown children, Nick and Brittany and grandson Max.

Helen holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and business marketing from the University of Northern Colorado.
